Objective

The goal of Advanced Practice Provider Academy (APPA) is to provide an accelerated route for recent Nurse Practitioner (NP) and Physician Assistant (PA) graduates in the practice of Emergency Medicine.

Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) with less than two years of Emergency Medicine experience will be expected to complete the academy. Those practitioners with greater than two years of Emergency Medicine experience will be hired through the traditional Coastline pathway.

Academy Duration

The APPA program is twelve months total, inclusive of a three-month rapid on-boarding program at selected sites. Didactics will continue for the provider throughout the 12-month program.

  • Eligibility Requirements:

  • Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA) certification (or equivalent) for physician assistants. Current American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) board certification (or equivalent) for family nurse practitioners.
  • State License/DEA License
  • (2) Letters of recommendation (one must be from PA/NP program director)
  • GPA of 3.0 or better in Physician Assistant or Nurse Practioner school
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Personal Interview
  • American Heart Association (AHA) approved ACLS , PALS, and BLS certification prior to starting (ATLS optional)
  • Candidates must also meet all additional Coastline hiring and credentialing requirements
